May Bank Holiday Celebrations
7th May, 4pm - 7pm
In the Orchard (or if wet, in St Barnabas' on Bagshaw Street)
Bring a picnic rug and / or chairs, and enjoy the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of our community family BBQ down at the Orchard, with maypole dancing (some of the local schoolchildren will be showing off their skills, and you can learn a dance or two yourself!). There'll be garden games, cider, lager and soft drinks available too.
We need local volunteers too! If you'd like to volunteer to help out, either serving or stewarding, please do get in touch with Matt 07704 108415 / matt@mattarnold.co.uk.
Come along and have some fun, whatever the weather.
Wassail!
Come and join us tomorrow evening at 5pm in our wassail gathering to bless the orchard.
Warm yourself round the fire, share the wassail cup, make a loud noise to scare off anything Unseen that would stop the fruitfulness of our orchard, cover your ears against the volley of shotguns that make sure we're really heard!
We have our own wassail song, written and led by Eric and his ukelele. And we'd like you to join in! You'll know the tune - On Ilkley Moor Baht 'At - if you play either uke or guitar, bring it along (chords are C G G7 F Dm) and if not, sing along!
All ages are welcome - if your little ones find the open space of the orchard more enticing than the group, that's fine! We have a scavenger hunt sheet and a quiz sheet if they want something to entertain them while they explore.
Afterwards, stay around for refreshments, including our own cider, started at our Apple Day back in October and bottled last week by our intrepid and daring taste testers - as far as we know they're still here! Chat round the fire to old friends, introduce yourself to new ones.
We're very much looking forward to seeing you there!
