Thyme ‘n’ Space is Pleasley Community Orchard’s first group to be formed for people to meet together with the common purpose of having fun whilst gardening in the orchard. Recent studies show that getting outside, especially in the darker times of the year, helps to combat depression, and getting together with others to make new friends and meet existing ones improves our overall wellbeing! People who have already been working in the orchard have commented on how well they feel after being up there – there really is something special about being in the orchard which we can’t quite put our fingers on.
We meet in the outdoor classroom every second Saturday in the month, 10am – 12pm. All tools and refreshments provided. Don’t forget to wrap up warm during the winter months !
There is a monthly list of small tasks required to maintain the orchard although other tasks may occur due to decisions by the gardening group on what they want to do with the planters / flower beds etc… The group will have a budget to work too!
It matters not whether you’re an expert or a complete newbie, this is about improving our wellbeing through meeting people, getting “off the screen and into the green”, being inspired and inspiring learning through sharing green skills.
As part of the Friends of Pleasley Community Orchard, you’d automatically be able to come along to Friends group events such as midsummer BBQs and so on.
So, come along on the second Saturday of the month, 10am – 12pm and see what you can give and receive as part of this new community group.
