Project: Wildflower Planting

We wished to provide a habitat for bees and other insects within the orchard, and decided that the patch of ground left behind from the wall removal could be brightened up with some wildflower planting. We built a frame over the ground and filled it with sandy soil.

Working with Farmilo Primary School children, the bed was sown with wildflower seeds provided by the GrowWild organisation.

Later on, and after consulting local residents an embankment was created using soil from the path and hardstanding area construction just outside the orchard, which would protect and support their back garden fences. This was duly sown using seeds provided by the Friends of the Earth Beeworld project.
